We are excited to host the award-winning filmmaker Mohamed El Zayat at Photopia this month.

"Logic & Motivation in Film" talk by Zayat will discuss what motivates you to make any aesthetic choice in filmmaking, the logic behind your choices as some of them are coincidences and feelings and not necessarily structures.. He will also discuss angles, colors & more.

He will share more about the language of film and those guidelines a filmmaker puts for himself and most importantly the code of visual ethics in the context of advertising, short films & others.

Sanduq el-Dunia’s approach to city history and culture was designed according to the award-winning project the Wall / Vaegen pioneered by the Museum of Copenhagen with Gibson Group, Denmark.

On this occasion, we are happy to host an artist talk where we can discuss street photography. The artist talk is moderated by Photopia and will feature Sabry Khaled, Mahmoud Khaled, and Manar Gad. Please note that the talk will be held in Arabic.

Afterwards, we will have a Sohour in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan!

Sanduq el-Dunia - صندوق الدنيا, currently exhibited at SOMA Art School and Gallery, is a touchscreen installation that creates a dynamic relationship with Cairo’s heritage. By presenting photographs in the form of an interactive, virtual map, users are able to delve into aspects of the city’s past and present, and reflect on Cairo’s deeply layered history. You can browse through the digital photo-collection, and share a photo with us of how you see the city at (www.sanduqeldunia.com).
