From Daguerreotypes to Digital: Photography in Egyptology Talk by John and Colleen Darnell
Around 1840, the first photographs were taken in Egypt, and early daguerrotypes, calotypes, and wet plate photographs are important records of Egyptian monuments.
The lecture will present an overview of the use of photography in Egyptology, including photographs as bases for epigraphic drawings. Then, they will discuss how modern digital photography and 3D modeling is transforming the recording of ancient rock art and inscriptions.

"Logic & Motivation in Film" talk by Zayat will discuss what motivates you to make any aesthetic choice in filmmaking, the logic behind your choices as some of them are coincidences and feelings and not necessarily structures.. He will also discuss angles, colors & more.
He will share more about the language of film and those guidelines a filmmaker puts for himself and most importantly the code of visual ethics in the context of advertising, short films & others.

By presenting photographs in the form of an interactive, virtual map, users are able to delve into aspects of the city’s past and present, and reflect on Cairo’s deeply layered history.
