MEXICO AND EGYPT SEEN FROM ABOVE: A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE.

The Embassy of Mexico in Egypt and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) present an exhibition of photography of two countries that might be geographically far, on two distant continents, but that share extraordinary similarities.

In this exhibition, Mexican photographer Roberto Hernandez presents iconic bird's-eye images from his collection The Other View that display the diversity of Mexico's natural landscapes and urban highlights. Those images of Mexico have been paired with the work of local photographers (Ahmed Abdeltawab, Ahmed Emad, Ahmed Nagy, Taimour Othman, and Yousef Naser). As a result, we present parallelisms between the two countries when seen from unique perspectives.

When you admire Mexico from the sky, it becomes clear that the enormous commotion of its metropolis is as beautiful as its paradisiacal beaches and waves, its mountains and cliffs, or its architecture.

The combination of symmetry and nature has defined almost a decade of work of Roberto Hernandez as he has captured moments and places that were virtually impossible to access without significant resources a few years ago.

From a downwards view of a traditional celebration with thousands of people to a solitary beach, passing through some of the most iconic images of Mexico, this selection of photographs from his work The Other View portrays Mexico's most important ingredients: its diversity and culture, but, above all, its beauty, which can consistently be found if you observe from a unique perspective.

Photopia Cairo Photography school & gallery takes pride in Egyptian photographers and their continuous progressive body of work over the past decade. The collaboration with the Mexican Embassy in Cairo sheds light on gifted, hardworking local photographers who have been documenting Egypt for years and now feature their work with an international artist in a world-known museum.
