Open Call: GRAIN | Analogue Photography Exhibition at Cairo Photo Week 2021

Photopia School of Photography is happy to invite all analogue photographers and enthusiasts to apply for an analogue photography open call "GRAIN" exhibition that will be held in Cairo Photo Week in March 2021 in Downtown Cairo.
Since the advent of photography, light sensitive grains were always responsible to freeze moments. That's how photos were, latent Images on silver halide crystals exposed meticulously to light to be then developed, printed and hanged.
Quite a timeless process, for who would've thought that grain could form photos. With just the right amount of light and chemicals, making photos has never been more pure, grounded and in it's unkempt nature.
The aim of “GRAIN” is to to capture the special beauty in shooting on film and why its not dead even after decades competing against digital photography, starts from the unique feeling with every image cultivated from the moment you choose the type of film to loading it into the camera and then playing with development techniques, and ends with heartwarming nostalgic feeling we all get when looking at analog photographs which is believed to be one of the main reasons why photographers keep shooting on film or going back to it over the last few years
We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in film photography and passionate about it.
Only selected images will be presented at the exhibition GRAIN that we will held as part of Cairo Photo Week 2021.
Submission deadline: December 30, 2020 Notification: All entrants will be notified 7–10 days after the deadline
Submission guidelines: - Theme: Open theme. -submissions are open to all film photographers. -photographs can be either black and white or colored. -Salt prints and cyanotypes are welcomed. -You can submit up to 3 photos with a high-resolution TIFF (or JPEG) file. -Photographs must not have exhibited before. -The photograph, must be original and owned by the applicant. -Applications (in English or Arabic ) can be submitted through the following link: https://forms.gle/r5wPfycbetQpEokb7 And must include the following information: -Artist’s name, age and contact information (address, phone, email) -The type of the film and camera used “please mention if the film is fresh or expired” -the photos with a high-resolution TIFF (or JPEG) -a simple title to the image if needed

منذ بدايات فن الفوتوغرافية ولاتزال الحبيبات الصغيرة شديدة الحساسية للضوء مسئولة عن اقتناص اللحظات. هكذا أضحت الصورة الفوتوغرافية، لوحة من كريستالات الرصاص المهيلدة تعرضت بكل دقة إلى قدر معين من الضوء، ومن ثم يتم تنقيحها وطبعها وعرضها. يا لها من لحظة خالدة ، من كان ليتصور أن بضع حبيبات تستطيع أن ترسم صورة. بقدر معين من الضوء، وكمية محددة من الكيماويات، لم يكن صنع الصورة أكثر نقاء و اتزانا و عفوية"
تسعد مدرسة فوتوبيا للفوتوغرافيا دعوة كل المهتمين بالفوتوغرافية الانالوج للتقديم إلى معرض(GRAIN) وهو معرض مفتوح للجميع، والذي سوف يعقد في أسبوع الصورة في القاهرة مارس القادم، والذي سيقام بمنطقة وسط البلد بالقاهرة.
يهدف المعرض إلى استكشاف الجمال الكامن في صناعة الصورة على الفيلم وسر بقائه رغم عقود من المنافسة الشرسة مع الفوتوغرافيا الرقمية. رحلة شعائرية تبدأ من اختيارك للفيلم الذي ستلقمه الكاميرا إلى التلاعب بتقنيات تطوير الصورة إلى هذا الشعور المفعم بالحنين حين تنظر إلى صورة ملتقطة على الفيلم، هذا الشعور هو ما دفع الكثيرين من المصورين إلى التمسك بهذي التقنية والعودة إليها على مدار السنوات الماضية.
نحن نرحب و نشجع جميع المصورين المهتمين بتصوير الأفلام والمتحمسين لها على تقديم آعمالهم.
سيتم عرض الصور المختارة فقط في معرض GRAIN الذي سنقيمه كجزء من أسبوع القاهرة للصورة 2021.
آخر موعد للتقديم: 30 ديسمبر 2020 إشعار: سيتم إخطار جميع المشاركين من 7 إلى 10 أيام بعد الموعد النهائي.
إرشادات التقديم: - الموضوع: موضوع مفتوح. - التقديم مفتوح لجميع مصوري الأفلام. - الصور إما سوداء و بيضاء أو ملونة. -مسموح بطبعات الملح والأنماط السماوية. -يمكنك إرسال ما يصل إلى 3 صور باستخدام ملف TIFF (أو JPEG) عالي الدقة. - يجب ألا تكون الصور قد عُرضت من قبل. - يجب أن تكون الصورة أصلية ومملوكة لمقدم الطلب. - يمكن تقديم الطلبات (باللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية) من خلال الرابط التالي: https://forms.gle/r5wPfycbetQpEokb7 ويجب أن تتضمن المعلومات التالية: - اسم الفنان وعمره ومعلومات الاتصال به (العنوان والهاتف والبريد الإلكتروني) - نوع الفيلم والكاميرا المستخدمة "يرجى ذكر ما إذا كان الفيلم جديدًا أو منتهي الصلاحية" - الصور ذات الدقة العالية TIFF (أو JPEG) - عنوان بسيط للصورة
